What is ESOF?
ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum) is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. It is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and debate for scientists, innovators, policy makers, entrepreneurs and the general public. 
What is the Science in the City Festival?
The Science in the City Festival is an important feature of every ESOF edition, aiming at bringing the town alive with science. It embraces activities for the public engagement in science and will take place in the two weeks from June 27 to July 11, 2020. Examples of Science in the City Festival are science shows, workshops, exhibitions, theatre and music.
How can I partecipate in the Science in the City Festival?
Individuals and organizations can submit their projects and ideas through the call. All proposals must be self-financed, but communication, locations, volunteers, basic technical and security services and (if it is the case) booking are provided by the Festival.
What is the relation between ESOF2020 Trieste and proESOF?
ESOF is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. It is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and discussion for scientists, innovators, policy makers, entrepreneurs and the general public. Trieste will host the 9th edition of the event. 
 proESOF is a programme of activities to anticipate and accompany the development of ESOF2020 Trieste. It represents an innovation in the usual EuroScience format and it includes a series of regional and international events that will be organized principally in the North-East of Italy, the Central-Eastern European countries and the Balkans. proESOF is promoted and led by TESI - Trieste Encounters on Science and Innovation of the FIT – Trieste International Foundation for Progress and Freedom of Sciences.
Where will the proESOF activities be held?
proESOF includes a series of regional and international events that will be organized principally in the north east of Italy, the Central and Eastern European countries and the Balkans.
Is there an official language for the proESOF activities?
Activities can be held in Italian, English or other European local languages, according to the public participating in the events.
How to get involved in proESOF?
Individuals and organizations can submit their projects and ideas through dedicated calls, launched every three months. Proposals will be evaluated by a panel of experts. To submit your proposal, please visit (link to the call)
Will an accepted project be funded?
Funding or expense refunds will not be provided. All expenses are to be borne by the proposing organizations/individuals.

Science in the City Festival will provide the location/venue, basic technical services, and communications within the festival programme.
Can a project be submitted to multiple areas (e.g. Science to Science, Science to Policy, Science to Business etc.)?
No, each proposal must be submitted to one specific area.
