The Istat Territorial Office of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia are organizing a conference entitled "Aging of the population: prospects and new challenges" to be held in Trieste on May 30, 2019, under the patronage of the Chamber of Commerce Venezia Giulia, the University of Trieste, the University of Udine, as part of the proESOF initiative.

The aging of the population, a relevant phenomenon on a global scale, is a complex demographic process that involves social, cultural and economic aspects. During the event, the demographic issues will be addressed by presenting a reading of the past dynamics that favored the aging of the population, providing an overview of future perspectives and proposing a reflection on changes in the definition of "elder" over time. The implications of aging will be evaluated from a social, economic and technical-health point of view. Attention will be focused on support networks for the elderly, on the role of the silver economy, as well as on socio-health policies and on technological projects relevant to the theme of active aging.

The conference aims to address the issue of aging by highlighting various perspectives of analysis, stimulating the exchange of experiences and promoting new interdisciplinary collaborations in the regional territory.
